CARDIOEQUIVALENCES is an application developed by Ferrer Internacional, S.A., with the aim of helping the therapeutic exchange of active ingredients and equivalent doses, for the doctors involved in managing cardiovascular health. Therapeutic equivalent is understood to be a drug different in its chemical structure from the original, but from which a therapeutic effect and a similar adverse effects profile is expected when administered to a patient in equivalent doses. Therapeutic exchange is understood as the substitution of a drug chemically different from that prescribed but considered a therapeutic equivalent or a better therapeutic alternative, based on a previously established and accepted protocol. CARDIOEQUIVALENCES contains three buttons enabling: conversion of an ARB dose to an ACE inhibitor dose, conversion of an ACE inhibitor dose to another ACE inhibitor dose, and finding the lipid-lowering efficacy equivalences between the different statins, for the same reduction of LDL cholesterol level. CARDIOEQUIVALENCES also indicates the equivalences where it is possible to reduce polypharmacy by using a polycompressed tablet and thus simplify treatment. Due to its design, the application is very intuitive and user friendly.
